Before reading on, please ensure that you have image editing software installed. You can use software like Adobe Photoshop.
If you don't have Photoshop, we recommend you download a free program like Paint.NET. You can download it from their website, www.getpaint.net, and click on Download.
The Image Dimension or Resolution is the amount of pixels in the image. The maximum allowed resolution is 1024 x 768.
In Paint.NET:
- Open the image with Paint.NET
- Select "Image" from the toolbar
- Choose Resize
- Make sure that "By Absolute size" is selected
- Make sure that "Maintain aspect ratio" is checked
- Under Pixel Size, set the Width to 1024 and the Height to 768
- Click on OK.
In Adobe Photoshop:
- Open the Image with Photoshop
- Select "Image" from the toolbar
- Choose "Image Size..."
- Enter 1024 next to Width and 768 next to Height
- Click OK.
The Image Format is the in which type of file the image have been saved.
The only allowed format is the .JPG or .JPEG format.
In Paint.NET:
- Open the image with Paint.NET
- Select "File" from the toolbar
- Choose "Save As"
- Select the folder in which you want to save the image
- Type the correct image name
- Select "JPEG" the in box next to "Save as type:".
- Click Save.
In Adobe Photoshop:
- Open the Image with Photoshop
- Select "File" from the toolbar
- Choose "Save As"
- Select the folder in which you want to save the image.
- Type the correct image name
- Select "JPEG" the in box next to "Format:".
- Click Save.
There are many factors that influence an image's size. These can be the image dimension or
resolution, or the the format in which the image have been saved.
The maximum allowed size is 500kb.
In Paint.NET:
- Open the image with Paint.NET
- Select "File" from the toolbar
- Choose "Save As"
- Select the folder in which you want to save the image
- Select the correct Format in which to save (.JPG)
- Click "Save"
- In the top-middle of the window is the "Preview file size"
- Slide the Quality slider until the Image Size is 500kb or less.
- Click on OK
In Adobe Photoshop:
- Open the Image with Photoshop
- Select "File" from the toolbar
- Choose "Save As"
- Select the folder in which you want to save the image.
- Select the correct Format in which to save (.JPG)
- Click "Save"
- The Size is displayed in the bottom-middle of the window.
- Slide the Quality slider until the Image Size is 500kb or less.
- Click on OK
The Image Name is very important, so please ensure that it is named correctly.
The name format should be:
[grading][category]-[name]-[title].jpg
When saving the image in either Paint.NET or Photoshop, type the correct name.
If you want to change the name after you've saved it, it can be done as follows:
- Browse to the folder in which you have saved your image.
- Right click the image.
- Choose "Rename"
- Type the name in the correct format as discussed in the Rules section.
